innovations in speed development
Introduction
In many sprint training programs, the development of the athlete’s physical potentials succeeds one another. The athlete trains endurance first, strength then speed. With such a training approach the athlete becomes a long distance runner, a weight lifter and then a target event expert.
In this way at the time of skills training and competition the athlete’s endurance and max strength may deteriorate up to 10-20% from the time of early preparation. The athlete’s maximal skill improvement should occur at the same time when their endurance and strength levels are at the highest prices. The planning of conditioning and skill development through all preparation cycles prevents a decline in endurance and strength and provides a surplus of physical abilities toward the end of the specialized cycle. The athlete who trains sprinting skills only during the phase of specific preparation will end the season never reaching peak performance.
Speed development requires the application of drills which bringabout memory to the motor neuron centers and muscles, as well as efforts which develop rhythm and timing of the target actions. These drills can duplicate technical details and rehearsal of strength and speed of training actions. The main objective of the assignments is to create some kind of surplus in efforts whenever this relates to the strength and speed of execution of the target actions.
In the following pages you will find a speed development training menu that consists of drills arranged dependent on the equipment used for training and the training methods followed. It also includes a variety of drills in the mode of strength development and training of stide cadence through the application of special and specific asignments. Stick drills, dragging resistance, assistance training drills, contrast training organization and vibration training application re some of the ideas here.
This menu is a collection of all available recommendations on preparation of training asignments for speed related activities. Finally adaptation development guidelines will offer scientific knowledge and answer questions on "why?" and "how?" the improvement of metabolic processes are so importand for reaching peak performance.
It's all included here, in this speed development menu! A kind of "buffet" for making your own selection of dishes for a nice dinner!
Enjoy!!!
